What a fricken' week...

My 20 month old son, Spike, broke his arm (pretty badly) this week- hence my absence- and I need say no more. Greyhawk, Zagyg and other things will return to focus later. This week's game is still on though...

  1. It's times like that you feel totally helpless as a parent. I remember when my youngest son, a pre-schooler at the time, burned his hands and had them both bandaged with just his thumbs sticking out. It broke my heart to look at him, but then I had to shake my head in wonder at his adaptability. It was incredible how well he managed as if nothing had happened, such as drinking from a glass. Luckily kids heal faster than us adults.

  2. Yeah, thanks Dave. Dealing with just the logistics of such situations, and the practical things, is hard- then there's how it all makes you feel. He's a trooper though. Stopping him from re-breaking it, with all of his boundless enthusiasm for climbing, running, wrestling and tumbling, is looking like being a challenge... :)

  3. The other thing we found was how incredibly dirty a toddler can make their bandages. :-)

  5. Hugs and get wells to Spike. Hope the parents aren't too dressed by the whole experience as I imagine Spike is just taking it in his stride, after the initial shock wore off.

As for blogging, family and gaming first!

  6. With a wee one about here, it's those kinds of thing that keep me up at night.

Good thoughts coming your way from across the ocean.

  7. Cheers everybody. We're all signing his cast for him next, wonder what he'll make of that?

  8. Lord, when my son was going through his "climbing" stage, I must have had half a dozen, mini-heartattacks. Best wishes!

  10. Mmm, yep. Yeah I am still here, though lurking in the background somewhat...

Things have been less than well since last I posted. Spike's arm, of course, has long ago recovered, but new crises have rolled along as if off of a production line and so, my blog lies fallow, weeds growing through it. And I liked it so...

I visit here often, mainly as a means of catching updates for other people's blogs. It is sad to come here and not do anything, but I find it hard to face my withered grandiosities and not reflect upon what might have been if I had made the time to keep blogging.

But then, maybe I need to just get over myself and continue anyway, hmm?

Thanks for your kind thoughts. Maybe I will give it another try. :)

  11. The Happy/Spooky Whisk wouldn't let me stop blogging either. Who can stand in the face of such friendliness and joyful optimism? Good to see you post again Ragnardbard.

  12. That's right, I want you guys back and blogging. But ... only if it's still fun. Glad to see you posted a comment and thanks for the well-wishes on my blog. We're hoping to get that sewing room emptied by the new year.
